So far in my career, I've photographed women quite more frequently then men. Many different factors played a role in that, one of them being that women are often photogenic and posing comes more naturally to them. But I wanted a challenge, and what better challenge than to photograph my friend Gabriel, who particularly hates being in front of the camera.
I gave no instructions to Gabriel when it came to what he should wear. Part of me was curious to see what he would show up with, but I also wanted his outfit to be something he'd wear on any other day.
Gabriel happens to be a very skilled climber, which is something we managed to incorporate in the pictures.
I wanted the location to have an industrial, raw, almost cold feel to reflect Gabriel's introversion. However, Gabriel also has one of the most lightsome personalities, so we shot until we got a glimpse of the sunset.
